ENGLEMAN IVY/VIRGINIA CREEPER VINE IN AUTUMN!

2012 VINE I

Sometimes beauty is found right in the details around us. Trees, especially, appeal to me and I appreciate their presence everyday.
Also, I am constantly enjoying a tree-like dimension in the Engleman's ivy vine which borders the backyard of our property.
We planted it 20 years ago; yet, each year I never cease to marvel at its beauty!
The greenery starts in late spring and continues throughout summers that are dry, wet or average.
Then in early September, the odd leaf turns green and, gradually, our yard is bordered with this amazing fence of so many shades of red. It is an annual delight.
Enjoy this beautiful Fall weekend.
Happy Thanksgiving if you are observing the holiday here in Canada!
Whatever day you are celebrating this weekend, enjoy the beauty of this autumn season!
In thanks to all my blog readers, wherever you are, here is a small poem that I wrote in thanks for all the blessings celebrated each day.

Engleman Ivy

In the backyard,
tracks red on brown chain-link fence
with autumnal fiery splendour
alarming to see.
Fall bliss is on display
every October day!

Enjoyed this post:) Don't you think the colors are extra-lovely this year? I also find myself continuously marveling as 'every leaf becomes a flower'(Frost)!

This is lovely, Patricia. Thanks for sharing. I was just thinking how here in Tx it's like a hot summer day (but we're having a cool front this weekend).

Two homes ago, I had this vine on my front porch - green all summer, then a spectacular red in fall. Truly glorious........love your poem, and am hoping for some turkey this weekend, if my sis decides to cook:)

What a beautiful sight. I miss the beauty of fall living in Houston.

Susie, thanks for the response to the photos! Haven't been to Houston, though I visited South Carolina in March a few years ago. It has a whole different take on March Spring weather, probably like Houston?
