Well, just a few items to post before the house fills up for a few days!
For starters, as a follow-up to my previous post, wanted to share that my poem most recently "published" was part of an event to save a forest in BC.
One of the organizers, Susan McCaslin, sent me a photo of my poem, one of over 200 submissions. Hopefully, this aided in the cause as the local politicians have decided to delay their decision on this forested land until late January 2013.
Yesterday, I managed to finish some gift shopping at a local plaza rather than the bigger malls. Some of these smaller-scaled stores have some unique items, friendly (not over-run) staff, and less crowding in the aisles. Still looking? Check out those stores in your neighbourhood!
Finally, thanks to all who have been reading this blog. If you are looking for some distractions in this busy time, you might want to catch a few of the seasonal specials.
Some of my favourite holiday views include these ones:

Some of my favourite holiday views include these ones:
- Twas the night before dinner--Food Network celebs at Blackberry Bog inn--it is a real little escape into a winter wonderland of chefs--Ricardo Larrivee, Anna Olson, Anthony Sedlak, Laura Calder and Bob Blumer. Sadly, Anthony Sedlak has died since this production was made, but the memory of a great chef lives on in this special program;
- A Child's Christmas in Wales: Amazon.ca: Denholm Elliott ...--Denholm Elliott's memorable voice brings this film version of the Dylan Thomas story to life in a magical way.
- A Christmas Carol (1984) (TV) - Full cast and crew--all versions have their own unique take on this Dickens tale. This year, more than ever, Tiny Tim's words have a special impact.
Thankful for much at this annual time of celebration. Heartfelt sympathy to all those who are mourning losses at this time. To quote, "God bless us, Everyone!"

Local little-shopping is such a small/huge step in the right direction.
Congrats on your poem, Patricia and it's such a great cause.

What a wonderful cause and I love your poem that was pinned to a tree...I pray it helps also!
Hannah, agree about the local idea for shopping!
Thanks re: poem. It was great to be a part of this event!
Thanks Susie! Trees are so amazing, hope the final decision is a positive one, too!
Love encountering poetry used to incite peaceful change. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much, Kim! It was exciting to contribute to the tree event, for sure.:)
