Summer has arrived!

Today is a beautiful day, with a temp of 23 degrees Centigrade.

The trees and lavender are swaying in the breeze and all is well with the world, it seems.
To maintain that aura of peaceful bliss, it may be necessary to disconnect from the electronic/digital world.

That means spending the afternoon outdoors -- taking a walk with our elderly pup, lunching on the deck, reading and writing a bit, chatting up the gardens with a neighbour.
What's not to like?

On this first day of summer, also World Refugee Day, it is a day to be thankful for so much.
In a far from peaceful world, refugees are still flocking to countries beyond their borders. As the politicians go back to their home ridings for the summer, hope they will be mindful of the need to keep the doors open to immigrants who are in need of refuge.

Ironically, perhaps, the new Superman Man of Steel movie is a recent release, in time for this week of focussing on the plight of refugees. In the film, Superman is identified as a refugee. It gives one pause to think of this super hero as a "refugee". If you haven't seen it yet, the movie is worth checking out.

Best to all on this beautiful summer's day! My first summer read awaits!

So nice of you to think of refugees in the middle of the joys of summer. Nice, Patricia! Thanks for the reminder. It always boggles my mind, the ease of my life, compared to other lives on the planet.

Thanks, Sherry! Yes, I, too, agree that we are so fortunate with so much. Each day I am thankful for all!
